About

Community Gateway Association (CGA) is a not-for-profit housing association established in 2005 following the transfer of 6,500 properties from Preston City Council. It was the first association created under the Community Gateway model, which emphasises tenant involvement and community-based decision-making. CGA provides affordable homes alongside a focus on building friendly and sustainable communities.

Performance & Accountability

CGA is regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing (code L4457). It retains top ratings for governance (G1) and viability (V1), most recently confirmed through a stability check in December 2021. The association is financially stable and operates as a community business.

Strategic Direction

The organisation’s strategy is rooted in the Community Gateway model, with a commitment to strong tenant voice and neighbourhood engagement. It continues to invest in existing homes and explore opportunities for growth in Preston and surrounding areas, while promoting community initiatives.

Resident Experience

As a member of the Housing Ombudsman Scheme, CGA has faced determinations on issues including antisocial behaviour (2010–2019), complaint handling, rent arrears, and communication concerns. These reflect familiar sector-wide challenges in balancing customer service with enforcement and tenancy management.
